I continue to receive your positive voice and willingness to help address the ongoing issues of overcrowding at Cassidy next year. I cannot thank you enough for this meaningful support. Ms. Fister is working with our superintendent to meet with the Board to address these concerns and I will continue to update you on our progress toward being a part of those discussions. In the meantime, aside from signing the petition (at this link), I would also encourage you to reach out to our elected Board of Education Member, Amanda Ferguson. Ms. Ferguson is our elected member of the Board and in her role she is tasked with being a voice–our voice–to concerns such as this. To that end, I have also attached a letter detailing our concerns and I would encourage you to review, enhance, improve or modify the letter for your own purpose. Reaching out to her, as our representative, is one tangible way to have our concerns addressed. The attached letter is not meant to be your own personal opinion (though you are free to affix your name and email it as is), but it is an example of the message we are trying to send. Feel free to add your own concerns!
In our letters, I would recommend that we all be mindful of the issues that will resonate with district officials. The district and the Board will be motivated by concerns that directly impact our children. They are far less likely to consider or address concerns that surround complaints such as decreases in property value or the unsightly appearance of portables. As you thoughtfully consider sending the attached letter with your own revisions, I would encourage you to think of our concerns in the context of the motto of FCPS: “It’s About Kids.” As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you!
